New Retreat Dates Being Released Soon
A space where healing begins and transformation unfolds
The year was 2019, and our mum, Tracy, decided it was time to share the healing power of meditation with the world, or, more accurately, Highwood Village. Meditation had become her anchor during one of the hardest seasons of our family's life: supporting my sister, Hope, through her battle with cancer. She wanted to offer others the same sense of calm she'd found, and so our candlelit guided meditation evenings were born.
They grew faster than we ever imagined. One venue became several. Local classes became online sessions. People connected deeply with Tracy's unique ability to create spaces where they could simply breathe, pause and reconnect.
Around the same time, Hope followed her dream of becoming a yoga teacher, while I (Nancy—hi!) naturally stepped into the business side of things. Together, we had one big dream: to create a permanent wellbeing sanctuary.
We imagined a beautiful countryside space with high ceilings, natural light pouring through the windows, yoga and meditation studios, a cosy café, sauna and cold plunge, and somewhere people from all walks of life could come to rest, heal and reconnect with themselves.
But life had other plans.
Hope's cancer took an unexpected turn, leading her and our family to America for life-saving treatment. The following 18 months brought unimaginable challenges, incredible resilience and a perspective on life that would shape us forever.
Around the same time, I welcomed my second child into the world. My son was born with congenital CMV, a diagnosis that transformed the way our family approached health and wellbeing. Suddenly, everything we had been learning became deeply personal. Food, lifestyle, nervous system health and creating environments that support healing weren't just interests anymore, they became part of our everyday lives.
As our paths evolved, so did our work.
We began hosting day retreats, bringing together hundreds of people seeking space to slow down, reconnect and prioritise themselves. What started as small gatherings quickly grew into a thriving community built on authenticity, connection and meaningful conversations.
People often ask where the name Some September came from.
The answer takes us back to Santa Monica, during one of Hope's darkest chapters. Amid hospital appointments and uncertainty, we would sit together talking about the future. We'd dream about the wellbeing sanctuary we'd one day create and say to each other, "Some September it'll happen."
That simple phrase became our promise to keep believing, even when life felt impossibly hard.
Today, Some September has grown into far more than we ever imagined. Alongside our transformational retreats, I now work with individuals and organisations as a trauma-informed counsellor and nervous system educator, helping people better understand stress, burnout and emotional wellbeing. We also partner with businesses to deliver workplace wellbeing workshops that bring nervous system education into corporate environments, helping teams build healthier, more resilient ways of working.
Our dream may have changed shape over the years, but our purpose hasn't.
We're still here to create spaces where people can pause, reconnect and remember that wellbeing isn't a luxury, it's the foundation for everything else.
With love,
Nancy, Tracy & Hope x
Our Story
“The art of living lies in learning to move with the seasons of your life - not clinging to what was, nor rushing what’s to come, but meeting each change with presence and grace.”
